Can I rotate the shapes?

No. They are placed in the orientation they arrive in. Allowing rotation would make every shape interchangeable and remove the part of the game where you read your hand and plan around it. Treat the orientation as part of what you were dealt.

Why place the big shapes first

Three shapes arrive together and the next set only comes when all three are gone. Playing the small ones first leaves a 3x3 or a five-long bar with nowhere to go, and that ends the game. Clear the awkward ones early and the small ones will almost always find a home. Order of play is the single biggest source of improvement here — look at your hand before you look at the board.

A 3x3 needs three free squares in both directions. Filling from the middle outwards leaves thin gaps that nothing square will fit into. Working from the edges inwards, and keeping the centre clear, gives the next hand somewhere to land. This is the second most useful habit to build.

Multiple clears score very differently

One line is 20 points, two is 60 and three is 120. Clearing one line three times gives 60; clearing three at once gives 120. Because a single placement at a crossing can complete a row and a column together, it is worth remembering where a nearly-full row and a nearly-full column intersect.

The end is decided exhaustively

Every one of the three shapes is tried against all 64 squares, and the game continues if any single placement works. So it never ends while a move remains — and equally, it does not end just because the board looks crowded. If a shape is not faded, there is somewhere it will go.

It shows you where a shape lands: Pick a shape and point at the board, and the outcome appears faintly before you commit. Positions that will not take the shape turn a different colour, so you never press and then discover it did not fit. Shapes with nowhere left to go are faded in the tray before you waste a turn on them.
Rows and columns are counted together: A single placement can complete both a row and a column. Clearing the row first would empty the crossing square and break the column, so this counts both before clearing anything. Two lines score 60 and three score 120, which makes aiming for crossings genuinely worth it.
Close it and come back: The board, your hand and the score are stored on this device. Reopen the page and you carry on. Nothing reaches a server, which also means nobody here can see what anyone scored.

How to play

Pick one of the three shapes
Tap to select, tap again to deselect. On a keyboard, the 1, 2 and 3 keys select as well.
Tap the board to place it
Valid positions light up and invalid ones turn red. Arrow keys move a cursor and Enter places the shape.
Complete a row or column
Eight in a line clears it. Once all three shapes are used, three more arrive. When nothing will fit, the game is over.
