Can it merge password-protected PDFs?

Not if a password is required to open the file — that row will say so, and the rest of the batch still merges. PDFs that only restrict printing or copying, and open without a password, normally merge without trouble.

Is there a size or file-count limit?

None imposed. But the work happens in your device's memory, so a warning appears past 100 MB in total. Several hundred megabytes at once can crash the tab; merge in two passes if you hit that.

Are my original files modified?

No. They are read and nothing else. The merged document is saved as a new file.

How can I verify nothing is uploaded?

Open your browser's network tab and run a merge. Requests for ads and analytics do appear — no PDF among them. Once you have merged once, you can switch the machine offline and the whole thing — loading, merging, saving — still works.

Where does the merged PDF end up?

In your downloads folder, and nowhere else. Closing the tab clears both the loaded files and the result from memory. Nothing reaches us.

Can bookmarks be kept?

Not with this tool. An outline addresses the document as a whole, and joining several documents breaks the page references it points at, so nothing attempts to copy it. Keeping bookmarks needs an editor that rebuilds them, such as Acrobat. The page content itself survives completely.

Is a scanned PDF still searchable afterwards?

If it was searchable before, yes — the text layer travels with the pages. A scan that never had OCR applied does not become searchable by being merged. Text recognition is outside what this tool does; run it beforehand in other software if you need it.

Can I change the order after merging?

Before merging, yes — the up and down buttons on each row. Afterwards there is no reordering, so load the sources again. To reorder a single document, load just that one and write its page numbers in the order you want.

How do I write a page range?

Comma-separated single pages and ranges: "1-3,7,10-12". Leave the box empty to take the whole file. A descending range like "10-8" inserts that stretch backwards, and repeating a number ("1,1,5") inserts that page twice.

What decides the page order?

Files are joined top to bottom, and within each file the pages appear in the order you listed them. Reorder files with the up and down buttons on each row.

Why is the output not the sum of the input sizes?

It is usually smaller: fonts and images that appeared in several of the source files are stored once in the result. Occasionally it is larger, because the object structure is rebuilt as the pages are copied and some of the original compression does not carry over. Neither changes what is on the page.

What does not survive the merge?

Bookmarks (the document outline) are lost. Annotations, links and filled-in form fields may or may not carry over. Digital signatures are always invalidated, because the result is a different document. The page content itself is copied unchanged.

What if page sizes and orientations are mixed?

They are preserved. A4 and A3, portrait and landscape can sit in one document, each page keeping its original dimensions and rotation. To make them uniform, either scale to the paper at print time or normalise each source beforehand — this tool does not rewrite page geometry.

Page ranges make this a splitter too. Load a single file, write "5-9", and you get a document of those five pages. "Drop the pages I do not want and join the rest" is both operations at once, and both take one pass here.

The output is rebuilt from the copied page content, so the version marker of the source files does not necessarily carry through. What is drawn on the page is unchanged, so this rarely matters — check after export only when a printer or submission system specifies a version.
