Drum extraction pulls just the kit out of a finished track — for loops, for analysing a groove, or for working out a fill bar by bar.
Drums are fast transients spread across a wide frequency range, which is what makes them hard: the kick shares territory with the bass, and cymbals sit on top of guitars and synths. A perfect split is not always possible, but for hearing what the pattern actually is, the result is more than good enough.
That said, drums are among the better-behaved of the six. Unlike everything else, they are identified by the shape of the attack and decay rather than by pitch, which gives the model more to work with. The corollary is that drum sounds without that shape — a brushed snare, a kick that is really a synth tone — leak into the other parts more readily.
If the extracted drums are destined to be loops, they need cutting exactly on the bar, and that is not something this page does. Take the exported WAV to the audio trimmer. When you do not know the tempo, measure it with the key, BPM and tuning analyser first — knowing the BPM makes the cut points obvious rather than a matter of nudging.

Drum extractor — frequently asked questions
- Which model isolates the drums?
- Pick 4stem — it splits into vocals, drums, bass and other, so you can save the drum track straight to WAV. Choose 6stem if you also want guitar and piano separated.
- Can I also get a drumless (no-drums) version?
- Yes. After separating, mute the drum track in the mixer and press "Save this mix" — that exports the song without drums. One separation covers both.
- Can I get kick, snare and hats separately?
- No. Drums come out as one track and it is not subdivided. Splitting a kit into its pieces needs software built specifically for that, fed with the drum track you export here. For listening purposes, though, having everything else gone is most of the benefit already.
- Can I slow the drumless track down to practise against?
- Yes — make the drumless mix here, then take that file to the key and tempo tool, which lowers the speed without moving the pitch. Around 80% is the line between followable and smeared. Slower than that and the beat you are trying to lock to gets harder to place, not easier.
- Does it work on programmed drums?
- Yes. Whether the kit was played or sequenced is not a decisive difference for the model. What does matter is timbre: electronic kicks and snares voiced close to synths sometimes get filed under other instead of drums. The nearer the sound is to an acoustic kit, the cleaner the split.
- Is it really free? Do I need to sign up?
